|Great Spotted Woodpecker|
The Great spotted woodpecker ( Dendrocopos major) exists in Europe, northern Africa and northern Asia and most of the world population is sedentary except those that breed in the coldest northern parts of its range.
The nest is cut out in a deciduous tree trunk, in both healthy and decaying wood.
The bird's food consists of beetles, ants, aphids and other insects, and berries.
