Reed Bunting

The Reed Bunting (Emberiza schoeniclus) breeds across Europe and in parts of Asia. Most of the birds are migratory birds that migrate to more southerly parts of Europe in the fall.

Crested bunting

The crested bunting (Emberiza lathami) is found from the Himalayas eastwards to highland areas of Southeast Asia.




Corn Bunting

The Corn Bunting (Emberiza calandra / Miliaria calandra) breeds in Europe, northwestern Africa and southwestern Asia east to Mongolia. The bird is mainly sedentary, but some populations that breed in colder regions of central Europe and Asia, migrate south in winter.
The Corn Buntings live in a distinctly rural area. It prefers open country with trees, fields and meadows.
The Corn Bunting eats mainly seeds, but supplement it's diet with insects during the summer.





Lapland Longspur

The Lapland Bunting or Lapland Longspur (Calcarius lapponicus) is a migratory bird that has an almost circumpolar breeding range from the Scandinavian mountain chain, the arctic Eurasia, Alaska, Canada, the northernmost United States, and Greenland's west coast. The Lapland Bunting winters in the steppes of Russia and Central Asia from the Black Sea and east to North Korea and Japan in the U.S., Denmark, in the British Isles and along the northern West European coastal areas.
It prefers to breed on high, and very wet heaths and bogs.
In the summer bird's diet consists mainly of insects. In winter they eat seeds.

Cretzschmar's bunting

The Cretzschmar's bunting (Emberiza caesia) breeds in Greece, Turkey, Cyprus and the Levant. It is migratory, wintering in Sudan and northern Eritrea. It is a very rare wanderer to western Europe.

The Snow Bunting (Plectrophenax nivalis) is found in the northern hemisphere and hedges in the circumpolar Arctic. There are a few isolated populations that nest on high mountain peaks south of the Arctic region, including the Cairngorm in central Scotland and Saint Elias Mountains on the southern boundary between Alaska and the Yukon. The entire world population is migratory birds, except the population of Iceland, and they move to northern temperate regions.

Red-headed Bunting

The red-headed bunting (Emberiza bruniceps) breeds in central Asia. It is migratory, wintering in India and Bangladesh.

The Little Bunting  (Emberiza pusilla nests on the taiga in the north-eastern Europe and northern Asia, from northern Scandinavia and east in a relatively narrow belt around the Arctic Circle in Siberia to the Pacific. It is a migratory bird that winters in northern India, southern China and northern parts of Southeast Asia.

Ortolan Bunting

The Ortolan bunting (Emberiza hortulana) is a migratory bird that occurs as a breeding bird in most countries in Europe and western Asia as far east as Mongolia.
